My Forever Love - LeVert by RZAWU
This song, “My Forever Love” is by LeVert, featuring the late Gerald Levert. This song came out when me and Dirty was teenagers.. and I want to dedicate this week to his memory. It’s about love lasting forever.
All through this song are references to the love b/w man and woman, but it also has a theme of young love among family and friends.
These lyrics tell how we felt in our youth playing, having fun enjoying the freedom of life. This is how my family grew up: me and all my 11 brothers and sisters and my countless cousins (GZA and ODB among my favorites), just going to the park, getting on swings or playing punch ball, stoop ball, 3 flies up, skelly and you know the rest.
All of this was joyous time filled with love… our families would meet at Clove Lake Park on Staten or Prospect Park in Brooklyn and the love we all shared seemed divine and everlasting. As adults we strayed from this joy due to pressures of responsibility and years of resonating influences from others.
Ason Unique left us physically on Nov13 and his birthdate was Nov15. This week for WuWednesday I would like to dedicate a song of love that can exist among brothers and families. Me and Ason have that love as brothers.
I also dedicate this song to Ason Unique’s family for I know his children and widow have beautiful memories of him in a way none of will ever know. I was there when he first asked his wife to be his girlfriend — we were just freshmen in high school.
I hope our Wu-Tang family out there appreciate the meaning and the beauty of this song.
